So... if you've been following pretty much any level of electronic music loving socialites of late, you'll have no doubt noticed a solid level of plaudits for the latest album from DJ Koze, 'Knock Knock.'
Following a swell of bar-raising albums, singles, mixes and a releases on the label he co-founded, Pampa Records, it's fair to say that his new album has dropped us from a helicopter onto the crest of a giant psychedelic wave.
To call it a game-changer is an increasing over-used cliché in music reviews and one that comes front loaded with expectation, but how else to even describe this? You press play, you increasingly like what you hear. You want to skip to the next track to check if it's even as good as this current tune but don't want to end the current buzz that you're getting. And so it goes on.
Full of creative twists and turns it's a proper smile on your face, long player. Lemon Jelly like inventiveness (and downright stupidity) dissolves in sublime. Kaytranada summer jams rub shoulders with techno-not-techno face swallowers while woozy groovers and disco loop serotonin chuggers keep the sun high in the pinky, purple sky.
It's a summer record delivered in full and definite 2018 album favourite already. Go and get it NOW
