Four years on from my little foray into record retail (I opened a pop up by Victoria Park which just about covered it's arse - so I quit while I was ahead and before I burnt myself out), it would appear that this pocket of East London has developed it's own solid circuit of proper record retail.
Complementing the BBE record shop in The Institute of Light by London Fields, Lobster Theremin's space the next street across and Erased Tapes just down Victoria Park Road, we have a fourth great hangout within the new Mare Street Market development - Stranger Than Paradise.
Switching up a former council building on Hackney's Mare St, follow your nose to the source of Flying Horse's freshly roasted coffee beans and you'll find a top selection of brand new pressings and reissues to satisfy all manner of musical tastes. Brought to you by an ex-Rough Trade East dream team, there are lots of juicy extras promised too, such as exclusive pressings and special events. Deffo worth a dodge down over Easter and beyond...
